Frequently asked questions

  • Why do I need an Adviser?

We are specialists in ethical investing

As specialists in ethical investment, we can provide you with advice on the most appropriate investments for your ethical values and risk profile.  We can also let you know about new investments opportunities.

We provide strategic advice to enhance your financial situation

Beyond investment advice, we provide you with strategic consultation about how you can enhance your current situation by using our expert knowledge of current and proposed legislation.

We reduce the time you spend on your paperwork

We also provide you with comprehensive reports and the back office administration of your investments.  This gives your time more to talk to us and discuss your investments, rather than tracking down paperwork.

  • What does an Ethical Investment Adviser do?

    We do a financial analysis

Like traditional financial advisers, we analyse the financial appropriateness of stocks, managed funds and other investment products to determine if they are well-priced, have the potential to outperform, are well-managed and are suitable for your needs.

    We do an ethical analysis

In addition to financial analysis, we review the investments that meet your financial criteria, by completing a review of their Environmental, Social and Corporate Governance (ESG) track record.  We use specialist ethical investment research to complete this analysis, along with our own internal analysis.

We recommend stocks or investments that suit your specific needs

After we have completed both the financial and ethical analysis of the stock or investment product, we then determine if it meets your specific risk tolerance, financial objectives, eg. high income yield, fully franked or, potential for high growth. Our recommendations are put to you in a written report called a Statement of Advice.

We review your investments, situation and goals

After the recommended investments are placed, we review the onoing appropriateness of the stocks or other investments to your ethical values and financial goals.  We liase with you to determine if your circumstances have changed.  Our recommendations are put to you in either a Record of Advice or another Statement of Advice.

  • What information will I receive on the ethics of my investments?

    Comprehensive ethics information

We will outline how well the stock or investment is rated in terms of their Environmental, Social and Corporate Governance track record.  If they are well rated, we may give some examples of situations or actions that have helped them achieve this rating.  If an investment changes their ethical values or included stocks which don't meet your values, we will let you know.

  • Is ethical investing safe?

    Your risk profile

You choose the risk profile of your investment portfolio. We would find out your investor profile before recommending investments suitable for you. You also can choose, to a certain degree, the level of income and/or growth you want. The performance and security of ethical investments tend to mirror the general investment markets, ranging from very secure government-backed investments to speculative company shares. Some investments generate higher than average growth and/or income, while others are involved in activities or services that limit their rate of return. Normally, ethical investors have a balanced portfolio with some funds in very secure investments and some in more speculative areas. There are no entrepreneurial stocks in the ethical investment portfolio.
