Ethical Investment Advisers recently featured in an article in the Australian Financial Review,  "Why sustainable issues matter in investing". The article shows that it pays to be ethical and responsible, citing the BP Deepwater Horizon oil rig disaster and the $37 million sexual harrassment claim against David Jones and the former Chief Executive. Both cases illustrate how companies are exposed in the key areas of environment and social responsibility if they are not actively managing their environment, social and governance risks.

Office News

Advisers Terry Pinnell, Louise Edkins and Karen McLeod will be attending the 7th International Responsible Investment Conference, "Take on the elephant in the room" from 14-15 September. The conference will analyse investment themes that now dominate economies such as climate change, ageing populations, new valuation modelling and social, governance and environmental issues in China. We look forward to passing on our knowledge to you when we next speak.

Trainee Financial Adviser Luke Gould has completed his Diploma in Financial Services (Financial Planning).  Luke is now accredited RG146.  Well done Luke!  He has re-commenced his Bachelor of Business at QUT this semester, and continues to work part-time at Karen McLeod's practice. You may have the pleasure of speaking to Luke when you next call or email.
